My husband and I just moved house, so I haven't been a very active photographer lately, but I'm going to make up for it.. BIG TIME. We moved from an apartment in a very busy city to a terraced house (or town house, a house with adjoining neighbours, but no more than two) in a more rural area of another city some 60 kilometres away (about 40 miles). It's not a long distance in America, but here in the Netherlands it accounts for a big move. We had a truck full of our stuff and two normal-sized cars completely loaded with people only able to sit in the front seats. We made it all in one piece though, with the help of family and friends, for which I'm very grateful.
So, that was a big change. We have our own back garden now and a somewhat smaller garden at the front of the house, which is more or less a tiny courtyard with some hedges. In our back garden we have a Japanese Maple tree and a garden pond with salamanders (maybe I'll be able to shoot them some time) and all sorts of flowering shrubs. I'll be working a lot in the garden this Summer, trying to make something of the slight disorder the previous owners of our house left behind. Got blisters in my hands today from working with a shovel and pruning shears, but it was totally worth it .
This garden is going to be my sanctuary as I for some reason love gardening and having my own herbs garden and growing my own veggies. I'm not one of those healthy foodie freaks, I just love digging in the dirt and feeling some sort of independence I guess. So you can expect some photos from my garden as I'm progressing in turning it into one of the nicest gardens in the area.
Also I have a few shoots coming up. One involves a portrait shoot with the family of an acquaintance of mine and the other is a shoot during a series of concerts by the choir my husband used to play guitar with. Dang, what a sentence. They'll be doing the concert two evenings in our hometown and they asked me to photograph the whole thing. I think it's going to be awesome, as their shows have gotten better and better. They'll be transforming a lot of famous epic fantasy songs into choir renditions, so that's got to be interesting at least.
So, let me know what you think about all this, just so I know I'm not just talking to myself (although that's not necessarily a bad thing ). By the way, if any of you have any tips on gardening and growing your own veggies, please let me hear them! I'm a newbie..

To sell, or not to sell?
Hiya!:)
Long time, no typing! I hope y'all are doing great. I'm doing not too bad myself. I'm writing this journal, because I wanted your input/feedback on some stuff I've been thinking about lately. I'll need your honest opinions:).
First of all, I've been on dA for seven years now and I think I've been improving on my photography skills ever since. I don't consider myself good enough to call myself a "landscape photographer" for instance, or a "nature photographer", but I feel more like it than when I just started taking pictures. I'm not surprised if I spend around 20 hours of my free time doing photography and post processing and postin
New camera + updated shop
Hi there!
Just a quick update to tell you that I updated my Society6 account with new artwork. If there's anything missing that you'd like to have, please note me and I'll make it available. You can find my shop here: http://society6.com/Dashtropie.
Oh and by the way.. I got a new camera:D. It feels like I'm the l33t now as I'm the proud owner of a Nikon D610. It's a fullframe DSLR which allows me to take the pictures I've always wanted to make. So, I'm really happy with that. Unfortunately, I don't seem to be having a lot of space in my head to make more pictures, so I hope that'll be over soon.
So, spread the word about my shop and I'll
I got married :D :D :D
Yes, it actually deserves that many big smiley faces, as that was what my face looked like the entire day. I've no idea how I pulled that off, might have had some achy muscles in my cheeks the day after, but the massages and saunas took care of that at the spa we went to for our mini-honeymoon:).
It's bizarre, getting married, and exhilarating at the same time. I'm not used to be at the centre of attention of, well, everybody (I usually don't want to be, I'll feel clumsy and just dumb), but this day it was a mix of both. I was still clumsy (when throwing my flower bouquet backwards for all the single ladies to catch it, I threw it against a
Photographs for sale:) (and other stuff)
Hi there! :boing:
Writing this journal entry to let you know that I am now selling my art via society6: http://society6.com/Dashtropie. It's a pretty much straightforward webshop, so go have a look:). If you know of anyone else who might be interested in purchasing some of my photographs as fine art prints it would be awesome if you could direct them to my profile on society6.
Then there's the subject of me going freelance. This July I passed my last project of my study and I am now a professional Translator. This means that I can translate a wide variety of texts from English to Dutch and the other way around, but I have thus far specializ
